The Huis Center

"Huis" means "hope" in Armenian. The Huis Center is created to inspire hope, provide healing and transformation through counseling, psychotherapy and psychoeducation. It offers services in English and Armenian. Located in Pasadena, Huis Center reaches out to the surrounding communities of Greater Los Angeles including Pasadena, Glendale and La Canada.

Group Therapy

Groups are led by licensed therapist Tamar Sevajian, certified in the areas of both Grief & Loss, and Anger/Stress Management. She has been running groups since 2013. Small groups are designed for 8 weeks 90 minutes sessions. Space is limited for 8-10 participants each time.

Evenings: Thursdays 6-7:30pm

Mornings: Saturdays 10-11:30am

Grief & Loss

Grief & Loss group is offered to help individuals who recently have experienced a significant loss due to the death of a loved one, divorce, health or a job loss. Processing grief properly is necessary for the griever to have closure and completion with regard to their relationship with their loved one they lost. Also, to be able to move beyond the pain of the loss into meaning making and a more purposeful life. It is therapeutic, spiritually healing and promotes wholeness.

Relationship Toolkit

Relationship Tool Kit group is designed to improve relationships between friends, spouses, siblings, parent-child (adult), employer-employees, colleagues. It includes tools and techniques about effective communication, forgiveness, as well as an introduction to Restoration Therapy including Pain and Peace cycles. You will also have the opportunity to learn from other interventions, such as boundaries, structural or solution-focused therapy. Finally, you will be able choose the tool that best fits your particular situation.

Anger & Stress Management

Anger & Stress Management group is designed to help individuals better control their emotions, prevent anger manifestation, as well as learn about healthy coping mechanisms when facing stress and anxiety. Includes understanding anger, trigger words, tips to tame anger, judging and labeling, empathy and emotional intelligence. CBT's thought-feeling-behavior technique is introduced, and role plays are encouraged.
